UNICEF is one of the longest-serving international organizations in Myanmar, with almost 70 years of service in the country. Today, children are around 34 per cent of the population of Myanmar and ensuring their quality of life is a priority as Myanmar undergoes a period of significant political, economic and social change. UNICEF is working with the Government to help put in place policies and strategies that support improvements for children, and in communities, to ensure that children are reached by essential services. With a particular emphasis on reaching the most vulnerable children, the UNICEF country programme document (CPD) for Myanmar (2018-2022) focuses on raising standards across child health and nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene, early learning and inclusive quality education, child protection, and social policies that affect children. In addition, our programmes support children in the midst of conflict and humanitarian emergencies, as well as adolescents, and children with disabilities.
